Ed doing therapeutic massage

Everyone has holding patterns in their body. Many of us feel these holding patterns during times of emotional or physical stress. For example, have you ever felt discomfort in a part of your body during a high stress time? That's a holding pattern developing. The primary purpose of a massage is to revitalize, rehabilitate and reeducate the body's holding patterns. Massage is also a great way to help you reconnect with your body.

In addition, massage offers many other benefits:

I use a high quality, professional massage lotion for all massages. Oil can stain your clothes when you put them back on and can block your sweat glands and cause your skin to attract more dirt. The lotion I use is very soothing and easily absorbed into your skin.

I work with adult men regardless of sexual orientation, gender identification, biological gender, age or body type.

A massage, even a very invigorating one, does not need to be painful. In fact, many clients achieve great benefits from a relaxing Swedish massage. Others may want a more deep, active therapy. Doing too much too soon can leave you tender or sore. I pride myself in providing a nurturing massage incorporating several styles that is geared toward the needs of my client.

Hot Stone Add-On - Treat yourself to a wonderful way to relax those stressed out muscles even more! I now offer hot stones as an add-on to your massage. The stones are basalt lava rock from Hawaii that are incredibly smooth and retain heat well. They've been blessed in traditional Hawaiian custom. The stones are heated to a warm, but comfortable temperature and I incorporate them into the massage. You'll love the feeling of the heat from these stones working deep into your muscles.

Please mention that you would like the hot stone add-on when making your appointment. I need to be sure they are ready and heated for you when you arrive.

Ed's Therapeutic MassageBefore we begin any massage, we'll spend some time asking you how your body is feeling and what you are looking for from the massage. For example, do you want light, gliding strokes or deeper work into the muscles? Would you like to incorporate stretching and range of movement exercises into your massage? Do you want me to concentrate on one part of the body? Are you looking for erotic touch? Based on your responses, I create a custom-crafted massage that incorporates several different styles to give you the type of massage you are looking for. I draw from all these styles of massage to create a custom massage for you:

Swedish - When most people think of a massage, they're probably thinking of a Swedish massage. A Swedish massage uses long, gliding strokes to unwind and relax the body. When most people think of a massage, they're probably thinking of a Swedish massage. A Swedish massage uses long, gliding strokes to unwind and relax the body. In addition to being a very relaxing experience, Swedish massage is designed to increase blood flow to muscles.

Myotherapy - Myo is Latin for muscle. Muscles, tendons and fascia can become damaged or impaired in many ways. Muscles get knotted and tense, and excessive stress can increase the pain and cause immobility. Imbalance or excessive tension in one part of the muscle or fascia can cause pain and stiffness elsewhere in the body. Myotherapy is a massage technique that uses skeletal and muscle movement to release trapped muscles and holding patterns. The movement can vary from holds, extensions, articulation, stretching, and range of motion positioning.

Trigger Point - Trigger points are small areas of spasm within muscle fibers that can a refer pain in a different location. Trigger Points not only cause pain, but can cause stiffness and limit range of motion. Trigger points are most common in people who people who are primarily sedentary but occasionally engage in vigorous physical activity. Trigger Point therapy is designed to melt these spasms so that the associated pain goes away.

Deep Tissue Massage - This style of massage is generally designed for more focused work on a specific joint, muscle or muscle group. The massage accesses deeper layers of the soft tissue. Starting at the surface then slowly easing deeper into the muscle often increases the range of movement. Special attention is also paid to the origin and insertions (end points) of the muscles. This is a style that uses considerable pressure combined with very slow strokes but is not intended to be painful. This therapy is a wonderful way to increase range of motion and reduce scar tissue.

Lymphatic - Lymphatic drainage is a gentle and wonderful way to promote balance of the internal body chemistry. This massage purifies and regenerate tissues, normalize functions of the organs and promotes immune system function.

Chronic Pain Release - I have training to release tension specific to many areas of the body. For example, by using specific techniques chronic pain in the lower back can be released. If you are experiencing tension in your neck and upper back or your shoulder area, there are some wonderful techniques that can be used to release chronic pain in these areas too. There are many other techniques available for other places in the body that hold chronic tension.

Cranial-Sacral Therapy - Cranial-sacral massage is a very gentle therapy that improves physical, mental and emotional health by freeing restrictions of movement in the bones of the head and spine. This therapy also helps to restore the harmony and balance to the cerebral-spinal fluid in your head and spinal cord. This therapy will focus on the head, spine, sacrum and pelvis, using light direct finger pressure to relax the target area, and the entire body. This therapy helps to restore the flow of energy to reclaim physical, emotional and mental well-being.

My friend An-Le offers a wonderful, relaxing therapeutic massage too!

60 or 90 Minutes?

A 60 minute massage is a good introduction to my massage style. But I have to confess that I feel a 60 minute massage is a bit rushed. I much prefer to give a full 90 minute (or longer) massage. Of course, the decision is yours.
